Job Summary:
The Senior Director, Business Development and Engagement is responsible for creating, implementing, and leading the organization’s expansion strategy by cultivating and managing a robust academy growth pipeline, negotiating engagements, and ensuring new academies are successfully launched. As the primary lead of our newly expanded business development efforts, this role is responsible for identifying and pursuing new opportunities for expansion while leading a team of relationship managers and support staff.
The core responsibilities of this role are in creating and executing a sustainable and data-driven academy growth strategy, including supporting program staff in cultivating growth opportunities, representing NAF at events, and leading the newly created Business Development team in conducting prospect research and creating pitch materials. This is a collaborative role and will require working cross-functionally to define measurable growth targets, identify and execute on opportunities as well as collaborating with the Marketing and Communications team to develop plans to raise NAF’s visibility. The Senior Director, Business Development & Engagement will also identify and prioritize target markets, research and analyze industry trends, and foster a culture of innovation and creativity for NAF’s growth plan.

Preferred Educational/Training:
Master’s degree in education, business, program leadership/management, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and business expertise.
Experience
- 7-10 years’ experience working in a sales or business development role in an educational product or service organization
- 5 years of demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Commitment to the NAF mission, vision, and core values.
- Experience owning the full sales lifecycle from lead identification to proposal development to closing deals and contracting.
- Proven ability to manage a team toward defined goals and quantitative objectives.
- Track record of identifying new channels for engagement, seizing opportunities, and closing deals
- Knowledge of current and historical issues influencing school reform and school district decision-making
- Confidence, presence, and professionalism to deliver effective presentations to large groups of senior-level stakeholders and collaborate effectively with high-performing co-workers, partners, schools, and districts
- Problem-solving and strategic planning skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail
- Experience using Salesforce (or a similar CRM) and Asana or other project management platforms
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including developing compelling pitch and proposal materials
- Travel required regionally and nationally 40% or less, as needed.
Salary Range:
$136,000- $144,282
