NAF’s National Partner Internship Eligibility Process

One or more of NAF’s National Partners have invited students in your academy to apply for a 2024 summer internship. As a first step in the application process, NAF is conducting an eligibility review to ensure that applicants align with the available opportunities.

Please note that completion of the eligibility process does not guarantee an internship.

Selection for internships will take place during the application period in early 2024. Specific timelines are set by each internship partner based on their requirements.

Eligible students identified through this process will receive invitations to proceed to the next stage of the application process.

All NAF National Partner Internship Programs scheduled for the summer of 2024 will meet the NAFTrack Certification internship requirement and provide compensation. Our program partners for 2024 include: KPMG Empower High School Experience, Lenovo High School Internship Program, NAF Future Ready Engineers powered by RTX, NAF Future Ready Lab powered by Capital One, NAF Future Ready Lab powered by RTX, UnitedHealth Group High School Internship Program, and Verizon High School Internship Program.

  1. At the recommendation of academy staff, students are required to complete the necessary elements of the eligibility form.
  2. NAF will communicate eligibility status to students via email (nafpartnerinternships@naf.org). NAF will also contact students, parents/guardians, and their corresponding academy leads to collect any missing or incomplete information necessary to complete the eligibility process.
  3. Academy leaders, eligible students, and their parents/guardians will be contacted by email once specific program information and next steps in the application process are released by partners, usually in January or February.
  4. Eligible students can then begin the partner-specific application process(es). New for 2024: Some academies might be invited to participate in the application and selection for multiple programs. While students are allowed to apply to more than one program, they must adhere to a strict policy that only allows acceptance of one job offer if multiple offers are extended. Once a student accepts a position, they will be removed from consideration for any other of NAF’s National Partner Internship Program positions.
In order to be deemed eligible through this process, students must:
    1. Be a NAF academy student making progress towards attaining NAFTrack Certification, demonstrated by uploading a screenshot of student’s landing page from the NAFTrack Certification platform. See example.
    2. Be recommended for an internship by NAF academy staff.
    3. Submit a professional resumé.
    4. Submit the signed Parent/Legal Guardian Cooperative Agreement
    5. Be eligible to work in the United States; and if selected for an internship, be able to provide documents demonstrating their eligibility in accordance with Form I-9’s deadline and instructions:
    6. Form I-9 | Formulario I-9
Form I-9 Instructions | Instrucciones del formulario I-9
List of acceptable documents | Lista de documentos aceptables
Students must complete this form in one sitting as it doesn’t allow for progress to be saved. The form can be filled out using a computer or smartphone. Before starting the eligibility form, students should have the following information readily available:
    7. Student school ID Number
    8. Student’s personal email (must be able to receive emails from individuals outside the school, including NAF and the employer partner)
    9. Academy lead teacher or coordinator’s name & email
    10. Parent/legal guardian’s name, email, and cell phone number
    11. Additionally, students should have the following documents prepared for upload (acceptable file types: pdf, docx, jpg, png, gif). The total upload size should not exceed 30MB.
    12. Professional Resumé (in English – naming convention for file: last name_first name). Students from Puerto Rico can provide a resume in Spanish.
    13. Parent/Legal Guardian Cooperative Agreement [PDF] (Acuerdo de cooperación de padres/tutores legales): Either completed, signed, and uploaded into this form OR indicate on the form that the agreement will be completed digitally by parent/guardian (enlace versión digital).
    14. Screenshot, PDF, or clear picture of student’s landing page from the NAFTrack Certification platform. See example.
    15. Instructions for student’s landing page in NAFTrack:
    16. Log into NAFTrack Certification: students.naftrack.org
    17. Take screenshot/photo ensuring that your name is clearly visible in upper right-hand corner of page – demonstrating that you have an account and have successfully logged in.
