Modules Will Prepare Young People to Set Goals; Plan for a Quality Internship Experience; and Succeed in the Workplace
(September 20, 2021 – New York, NY) – NAF is thrilled to announce the release of internship preparation modules, with content specifically designed to prepare high school students for success in internship and mentored industry projects. This internship preparation content will prepare students to set individual goals, plan for a quality internship experience, and engage confidently in their workplace.
The content for these modules was developed in collaboration with Humans Who Play (HWP) and a group of educators and students from across the country. As a foundation for this content, NAF utilized some of the activities found in the Tenacity curriculum, created by DC Public Schools, as a full semester-long course to prepare students for internship success.
“DC Public Schools is excited to share our Tenacity Professional Character Skills Curriculum with the NAF network, as an internship preparation and employability skills resource. Our curriculum is an excellent resource for developing work-based learning skills. We hope it fosters collaboration and builds capacity to reach, teach, and prepare even more students via the NAF network,” said Manager, Career Preparedness Programs, DCPS, Kristen DeSanti.
NAF’s Internship Preparation modules prepare young people for internship success through focuses including:
- Lesson 1: My Story, My Strengths, My Goals
- Lesson 2: My First Day
- Lesson 3: On the Job (Verbal Communication)
- Lesson 4: On the Job (Written Communication)
- Lesson 5: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
The Internship Preparation modules engage students through activity and play, allowing them to take ownership of their own internship readiness. NAF is excited to share these resources with the public via our website and encourage educators to explore the included lessons and integrate them into their classroom this school year.
NAF will continue working with our partners at HWP and DCPS to develop additional modules this fall for a Summer 2022 release.
