Students in our NAF Academies of Information Technology are connected to current workforce trends, industry experts, and projects that address real-world issues, and better prepare them for success. More than 28,000 students are enrolled in the Academy of Information Technology at 102 high school academies across 15 states.
The NAF Approach is simple. Our Academies of Information Technology are small learning communities within high schools or districts that support students in igniting their aspirations, growing professional and industry skills, and connecting with industry experts through career-focused curricula and work-based learning:
Career-Connected Curricula
NAF Academy of Engineering learners explore various aspects of IT including coding, computer systems, graphic design, and web development. Our curriculum collaborators include Verizon, Code.org, and Cyber.org.
Students build future ready skills and social capital through experiences such as the Future Ready Engineers internships, Hour of Code activities, robotics competitions, mentorship, and more while connecting with industry professionals.
“Before the Girls in Tech event, I was really interested in biology, but after coming here and learning more about the different facets of technology that exists, I learned that I can be interested in multiple, like science and technology.”
“NAF didn’t just offer me great classes and teachers. NAF gave me the opportunity to have real work experience in high school. I also had the chance to network with business partners and meet members of the NAF board.”
Khalia Braswell Ph.D., Founder of Tech for Good, LLC, NAF Academy of Information Technology, Class of 2008
Our career pathways support growing industries and the needs of the local community.
