Director, Advisory Board Activation


Summary:
NAF’s strategic plan includes increased focus on local employer and community partner engagement to support academy sustainability and a student-centered, outcomes-driven approach to work-based learning. In this role, the Director, Advisory Board Activation will lead and support the development and quality implementation of products and services for this approach, including training, resources, tools, and strategic and targeted support for the network. This position supports the plan to increase the number of local partners and their involvement in advisory boards, making an impact on the quality and quantity of work-based learning opportunities for all students

The Director, Advisory Board Activation will lead the implementation of NAF’s advisory board goals and priorities including on-the-ground support for programs with by developing and delivering resources, tools and trainings. They will ensure performance indicators and data inform decisions, and quickly manage change efforts, as needed. This data will come from tracking performance indicators and impact metrics and from new surveys that measure impact for different stakeholder groups.

 The Director, Advisory Board Activation will also manage partner and stakeholder expectations professionally, resulting in positive student impact, favorable return on investment, and ongoing advisory board and employer partner sustainability and growth. They will collaborate with internal and external academy support teams to provide coaching, mentoring, guidance, and support to advisory boards, academies, and school districts to engage, onboard, and support partnership development and advisory boards and manage a portfolio of partnerships, potentially including consultants. They will work cross-organizationally to plan, develop, and implement network supports for mapping, local marketing document review, and outreach to new local partners. 

This role requires an individual with a strong expertise in advisory board development, impact and sustainability; the full continuum of work-based learning inclusive of internships; successful business development skills and demonstrated success in the management of relationships and partnerships. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, energetic, and engaged team leader and member.

Educational/Training Requirements:
Bachelor’s/Master’s/Certification

Experience:

  • 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with NAF’s educational design (preferred)
  • 4-7 years of relevant role-specific experience, including:
    • Demonstrated excellence in activating and sustaining high quality and impactful advisory boards
    • Demonstrated excellence in working with employer partners, schools, and students to implement work-based learning
    • Supervisory experience
    • Experience with project management with multiple stakeholders
    • Experience developing templates and resources
    • Project management and relationship management skills
    • Experience with developing and providing training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of advisory board and work-based learning best practices
  • Proactive and goal-oriented
  • Problem-solver who can overcome obstacles
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google suite
