HARTFORD – At Hartford’s Pathways Academy of Technology and Design, new donated laptops and tablets are part of a new curriculum designed to teach students how to make apps.
Teacher Raul Vargas says he can teach someone to make an app in one hour and have it installed on their device in one hour.
For student Cameron Martin: challenge accepted.
“The app that im developing right now is called coin flip – where you can shake your tablet and it will shake a coin for you , instead of using an actual coin,” said Martin, 10th grade.
The curriculum is more than just teaching, it’s developing a skill that can translate into a moneymaking career.
“We`re learning the basics, but also using app-inventor, to make apps that can be used on android that can be submitted to the google play store as a commercial item,” said Vargas.
