WEBSITE PRIVACY POLICY

These Terms were last updated: February 2023

NAF is a national organization through which education, business, and community leaders work together to ensure high school students are college, career, and future ready. Since 1980, NAF has been partnering with high schools to enhance systems and outcomes at a low cost by implementing NAF Academies, which are small learning communities usually established within traditional high schools. This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand how NAF (or “we”) handle personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains:
  • What information we collect.
  • How we use that information.
  • How we share that information.
  • How to contact us if you have questions or want to discuss your rights and choices with respect to personal information.

By accessing or using any portion of the naf website or naf web-based services (as those terms are defined below), you are acknowledging that you have read, understand, and accept this privacy policy and agree to be bound by this privacy policy and our terms of use. Naf may change this privacy policy from time to time. If such changes are material, a notice of the changes will be posted along with the revised privacy policy. We encourage you to visit this page for the latest on our privacy practices.

GENERAL PRIVACY PRINCIPLES
Whether you are browsing the naf website, donating to naf, or using the naf web-based services, you are subject to the general privacy principles. The general privacy principles describe our general approach to information security, collection, usage, and sharing. Please click here for the general privacy principles.

POLICIES SPECIFIC TO NAF OFFERINGS
NAF Website: the naf website is at naf.org. You can visit most pages on the naf website without having to log in or otherwise identify yourself.

Below, we provide privacy disclosures specific to the naf website. These provisions are in addition to the general privacy principles.

INFORMATION COLLECTION
When using the naf website, you may provide your personal information, including your email address if you elect to subscribe to our mailing list.

USE OF INFORMATION
When you provide information to NAF via the NAF Website, we use the information to deliver you the content and services you have requested, such as sending you our newsletter or responding to your inquiries. We may also use your information to send you e-mails or other communications concerning NAF and our initiatives.
We use information about your visits to the NAF Website or your responses to our online mailings to serve you targeted advertisements based on your browsing history and interests. We and our third-party partners use this information to make the advertisements you see online (such as advertisements for job openings on Facebook) more relevant to your interests, as well as to provide advertising-related services such as reporting, attribution, analytics and market research.

SHARING OF INFORMATION
We may retain other companies and individuals as our service providers to perform functions on our behalf – for example, data analysis firms, customer support specialists, webhosting companies, telemarketing companies and fulfillment companies (e.g., companies that coordinate mailings). These third parties may be provided with access to your personal information [for use in providing relevant services], or may collect information about you and your use of the NAF Website on their own.

YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
If you no longer wish to subscribe to NAF’s online mailings or would like to change your e-mail preferences, you may do so at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” or the “update profile” link at the bottom of any e-mail you receive from NAF. Please be advised that sometimes these requests may take time to process.

DONOR PRIVACY POLICY

These terms were last updated: June 2018

NAF (“NAF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. This page describes the policies (the “Donor Privacy Policy”) we have implemented with regards to collecting and using information about our donors.

As discussed in more detail below:

  • The Donor Privacy Policy applies specifically to personal information about our donors.
  • We will not trade or sell our donors’ personal information, whether collected online or offline.
  • We will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.

By submitting your information to us or any of our staff as a donor, whether through access and use of our website (including sub-domains, web pages within our website or any equivalent mirror, replacement, substitute, or backup website), offline or otherwise, you are acknowledging that you have read, understand, and accept the Donor Privacy Policy and agree, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by the Donor Privacy Policy, and, to the extent you access or use the Website, our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

If you do not agree to be bound by the Donor Privacy Policy, please do not submit any information to us.

1. Changes to the Donor Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to change, add, or remove portions of the Donor Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. If we change the Donor Privacy Policy, we will post the revised document here, and such changes will be effective immediately upon that posting. As we may make changes at any time without notifying you, you should periodically review the Donor Privacy Policy, including each time you register for an event or make a donation.

2. Information We Collect.

When you register for an event or make a donation on the Website, over the phone, by mailing a check, or in any other manner, you may provide us with your personal information. “Personal information” is data that can be used to uniquely identify or contact a single person. Personal information we collect may include your name, phone number, physical address, e-mail address, and payment information, such as credit card number and expiration date.

When you provide us with such information or other of your personal information, you are giving your consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as set forth in the Donor Privacy Policy. If you would prefer that we not collect any personal information from you, please do not provide us with any such information.

We also collect non-personal information from you passively. Like most website administrators, we use log files that record information such as Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and page navigation. We gather this information to track website visitor movement in the aggregate and to gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

3. How We Use and Share Donor Information.

Under the Donor Privacy Policy, we will not sell, trade, or rent our donors’ personal information collected on the Website or through any other business activities, either online or offline. Except as provided in the Donor Privacy Policy, we will not share such information with third parties.

We use the information you provide to process your donation or event registration as you have requested and to acknowledge receipt of your donation for tax purposes. We may also solicit feedback from our donors and use your information to send you e-mails or other communications concerning NAF and our initiatives. Our online donation form has an “opt-out” mechanism for those users who wish to make donations or register for an event, but do not want to receive any additional information or other material from NAF.

Additionally, we may use your information in connection with our internal business purposes or for any other purpose we deem necessary or desirable to enhance your experience as a donor. We will not send mailings to donors on behalf of other organizations.

We may use your personal information to acknowledge your contribution in certain informational materials such as mailings, event invitations, or on the Website. Donor anonymity will be respected if requested and where applicable.

We may engage other companies and individuals as our service providers to perform functions on our behalf – for example, online payment providers, fraud-screening services, webhosting companies, and fulfillment companies (e.g., companies that coordinate mailings). These third parties may be provided with access to our donors’ personal information and may collect information about our donors on their own. The Donor Privacy Policy applies solely to personal information we collect and may provide to the service providers engaged by us to perform services on our behalf. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third party. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personal information.

We may disclose any information, including personal information, we deem necessary, in our sole discretion, to governmental authorities or private parties in order to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, investigation, or governmental request. We may also disclose such information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or violations of our policies or Terms of Use, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing NAF and applicable laws, or as otherwise required or permitted by law or consistent with legal requirements.

We are based in the United States of America, and we do not actively seek to collect information from individuals who are located in the European Economic Area. Any personal information you provide may be stored and maintained in a database in the United States or transferred to a database outside the United States. By providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or knowingly allow such persons to access the Website. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on the Website or on or through any of its features or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, or any screen name or user name you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as soon as practicable. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.

4. Updating Your Information and Opting Out.

If you would like to access, modify, correct, or delete your personal information, please contact us. When you contact us, you may be required to provide us details to verify your identity. We may not accommodate a request to change or delete information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement, cause the information to be incorrect, or we are unable to verify your identity. If we have received your information from a third party, we may not be able to modify, correct, or delete your information.

We will retain your personal information and other data submitted by you under the Donor Privacy Policy unless and until you ask to be removed from our mailing list. Please note that when information is removed from our mailing list it may continue to exist in backup databases maintained by us. If you would like to change your e-mail preferences, you may do so at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each e-mail you receive from us. Please be advised that sometimes these requests may take time to process. Unsubscribing from our mailings may take 2-4 weeks to be effective. Our online donation form has an “opt-out” mechanism for those users who wish to make donations, but do not want to receive any additional information or other material from NAF.

We may implement various security measures to help protect your personal information and reduce the risk of loss, misuse, or alteration of the personal information under our control. Unfortunately, however, no data storage mechanism or transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you submit to us, and you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we put in place for your protection.

5. Business Transfers.

As we continue to develop and grow, we may sell or liquidate certain of our assets or combine our operations with those of another entity or organization. In such transactions, donor information, including personal information, generally is one of the transferred assets. By submitting your personal information to us you agree that we may transfer your information to such entities in these circumstances.

6. Privacy Policy.

The Donor Privacy Policy applies to information our donors submit to us. All access or use of the Website is also subject to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

7. Contact information.

Please be assured that we take your privacy quite seriously. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about our privacy practices or the Donor Privacy Policy, please contact Dana Pungello at dpungello@naf.org.

We use cookies to ensure that we give you the best experience on our website and other media. For more information, please read our privacy policy.
