Nonprofit and Global Tech Leader encourage STEM education among high school students
(June 16, 2020 – New York, NY and Raleigh, NC) –Lenovo and NAF have announced the winners of the sixth annual Lenovo Scholar Network National Mobile App Development Competition.
The app development program encourages greater interest among underserved high school students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) while providing them with high-tech skills critical in today’s job market. This year’s Mobile App Development Competition included teams of students from NAF academies across the U.S. who spent months developing applications that will be of service in their classrooms and communities and adjusted to the transition stemming from the unprecedented circumstances faced this school year with COVID-19.
This year’s five winning apps are:
- Enloe High School, Academy of Health Sciences, Raleigh, NC
- An interactive kid-friendly app targeted towards helping young children with ADHD
- Enloe High School, Academy of Health Sciences, Raleigh, NC
- A resource to help users diagnose a sports injury and treat it immediately, as well as offering exercises and stretches to help with the recovery
- Mallard Creek High School, Academy of Engineering, Charlotte, NC
- An app that can generate a random password to help people create stronger security measures and help protect their accounts
- Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, Academy of Information Technology, Charlotte, NC
- An app to help people become healthier — providing assistance with losing weight or gaining muscle. It also recommends tips on how to better achieve personal goals, a tracking system based on their newest data, recipes for any time of the day, sample shopping lists, videos, and more
- Clarence High School, Academy of Finance, Clarence, NY
- An app to assist with productivity and remaining on task and to help reduce procrastination when using a phone during work
Mobile App Competition Fan Favorite Voting Through July 13th.
