PEORIA, Ariz. – Raymond S. Kellis High School Business & Marketing Teacher, Deb Moore recently took home a Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, it was announced.
This national award, given by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, is not Moore’s first national recognition. Moore has a long list of tremendous accomplishments including the recipient of ACTE’s New Teacher of the Year Award in 2004 and the ACTE Outstanding Teacher in Community Service Award in 2011.
Moore was nominated for the Leavey Award by Renee Woodruff of Mountain Ridge High School and the National Academy Foundation for her “Turning Pink into Green” project. This award is only given to eight distinguished recipients each year and recognizes those educators for their innovative efforts to help young people better understand the function and benefits of America’s private enterprise system.
To receive her award, Moore was invited to attend a special awards ceremony in Philadelphia, Penn. in May. Her recognition included a cash award of $7,500 and a commemorative plaque. Her trip to Pennsylvania included attendance at the Leavey Education Summit where Moore had the opportunity to present her project to fellow recipients and local educators.
