In celebration of Women’s History Month 2024, I am excited to reflect on my NAF journey and how it has prepared me for my current career today, as Senior Manager, US Commercial Transformation at Johnson & Johnson MedTech, and share more about my vision and goals, as the new NAF Alumni Leadership Council (ALC) Chair.

My journey began in high school, with the NAF Academy of Finance at Lancaster High School and offered invaluable insights into the corporate world through internships. That early exposure to leadership opportunities within NAF instilled in me a sense of confidence in pursuing my goals, and I attribute many of the opportunities I’ve had in my career to the advantageous lessons and experiences gained through my involvement with NAF. It has truly been a transformative journey that I am immensely grateful for!

Speaking of transformative journey, I am also thrilled to lead the NAF ALC as Chair and communicate more about my next steps. Central to my vision is our new ALC 2024 rally cry: ‘Ignite the Network, Fuel the Future!’ This embodies our collective mission to invigorate the NAF alumni community and drive forward positive change within our network.

Under this banner, the ALC will concentrate our efforts on three main pillars, each essential for realizing our overarching goals:

1. Strengthening Alumni Engagement;

2. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization; and

3. Alumni Network Expansion

By focusing our energies on these core areas, we aim to harness the full potential of the ALC — driving increased focus and impact across all aspects of our work. Together, we will continue to work tirelessly to ignite the network — fueling the future of NAF and empowering the next generation of leaders.

I strive to prioritize understanding and valuing the perspectives of others. As I am still early in my career and honing my leadership style, I draw inspiration from mentors and aspire to emulate many of their leadership styles — characterized by empathy, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to the growth and well-being of others. Several mentors have taught me that true leadership is not about wielding authority but about serving others and creating opportunities for them to thrive.

During Women’s History Month, I am reminded of the remarkable female mentors who have played influential roles in my life, particularly within Johnson & Johnson. Within the company, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive network of women who have acted as mentors — offering guidance, encouragement, and priceless insights. There are too many names to name!

Among the many inspiring women I’ve had the privilege to learn from, I’d love to highlight Jennifer Morgan, Global Head, Portfolio Operations, Blackstone, and a member of NAF’s Board of Directors. I first met Jennifer at the age of 20, and her presence has been a constant source of inspiration ever since. Jennifer epitomizes transformational leadership — radiating positivity, confidence, and a genuine commitment to the growth of others. A few years ago, I had the honor of spending a “Day in the Life” with Jennifer, witnessing her leadership in action. Her ability to inspire and empower her teams, coupled with her unwavering dedication to making a difference, embodies the essence of true leadership. This is the real impact of NAF. It was a privilege to spend time with such a distinguished executive, and it remains one of the most memorable days of my life.

In the spirit of paying it forward, I’d like to offer this advice to the next generation of women:

“Believe in yourselves fiercely and unapologetically. Your dreams are valid, and your aspirations are worth pursuing with all your heart. Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back; instead, let them fuel your determination to overcome obstacles and achieve greatness.”
