High school students from the central Florida chapter of the Academy of Finance (AOF) will attend the fourth annual Financial Advisor/Private Wealth Innovative Retirement Symposium in Orlando.

“We were delighted to have been approached by the Central Florida chapter of the Academy of Finance, to integrate their annual program into a portion of our retirement symposium,” says David Smith, executive vice president and founding publisher of Financial Advisor and Private Wealth magazines. “This partnership allows aspiring high school students a firsthand view of the importance of continuing education in the financial services industry, while offering our conference attendees, sponsors and presenters a glimpse into the future of our profession.”

AOF will send 150 students to the symposium’s opening general session, featuring Robert L. Reynolds, president and CEO at Putnam Investments, on March 12 at The Peabody Orlando. The students will then attend some morning sessions on the first day of the symposium, such as “Asset Allocation for Retirement Investing” and “Retirees and Health Care Issues.”

The AOF introduces high school students to careers in the financial services industry. It is one of four member programs of the National Academy Foundation, founded by Sanford I. Weill, chairman emeritus of Citigroup Inc., as a partnership between business leaders and educators. The NAF career academies are predominately based in urban school-districts and focus on opening the door to new opportunities and equipping students to make sound choices for their future.
