This was induction day for 200 students in Birmingham City Schools.
In a ceremony similar to a National Honor Society induction, juniors pinned freshmen and sophomores selected to be in the school district’s career academies. The academies offer an accelerated curriculum that helps students decide on a college or career path to pursue after graduation.
Adrienne Walker is a student in Huffman High School’s Academy of Architecture and Construction. “I actually like doing construction. When I first took the class, I didn’t think I would be interested, but I kind of got interested and got excited about going to college to do construction management,” Walker said.
This is the fourth year from the induction ceremony. May will mark the first time career academy students will graduate.
