NAF and KPMG are Committed to Developing the Next Generation of Talent & Building a Diverse Future Workforce

(November 7, 2023 – New York, NY) — NAF, a national education non-profit that brings schools and businesses together to support high school students’ efforts to be future ready and prepare them for college, a career, and future success, is pleased to welcome Sandy Torchia, Vice Chair – Talent and Culture at KPMG U.S., to its esteemed Board of Directors.

In her current role, Torchia is responsible for leading KPMG’s talent strategy—positioning the firm to attract, develop, and retain the best employees. As a member of the firm’s Management Committee, Torchia works with KPMG’s leadership team to develop and implement initiatives that bolster the firm’s growth strategy by unlocking the power of its people and improving employee and partner experiences. Some of her key areas of focus include fostering a supportive, inclusive, and values-based culture and work environment, developing future leaders, and championing new ways of working.

With a successful career and significant leadership roles at KPMG that have driven impact, Torchia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to NAF’s Board of Directors – helping to move the needle for the next generation of talent, especially those from under-invested in communities.

“We are delighted to have Sandy Torchia join NAF’s Board of Directors and lend her time, talent, and passion for the nonprofit and community spaces to NAF’s growing work. Her values seamlessly align with our mission, especially through a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) lens, to increase opportunities for all high school students as they prepare for their futures,” said Lisa Dughi, NAF CEO.

With its more than a decade-long partnership, beginning in 2010, KPMG and NAF have been committed to developing a more diverse workforce pipeline of accounting professionals, further deepening KPMG’s and NAF’s shared vision around advancing DEIA efforts.

KPMG and NAF have been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at enhancing NAF’s Academy of Finance curriculum and amplifying outcomes-driven work-based learning opportunities for today’s high school students. Since 2013, KPMG has provided over 500 internship opportunities for NAF students and are on track to exponentially scale that number in the coming years.

“I’m honored to join NAF’s Board of Directors and look forward to furthering KPMG’s partnership with the organization to increase and improve educational opportunities in the US,” said Torchia. “Every student deserves equal access to the tools, mentorship opportunities and learning experiences that will set them up for success and I’ve seen firsthand just how impactful NAF’s collaborations with businesses and communities can be for the students they support.”
