NAF Strengthens Its Presence in Miami and DC and Expands to Puerto Rico
(June 24, 2020 – New York, NY) NAF is excited to welcome 31 new academies into NAF’s network. As an emerging academy, students have the opportunity to take career-themed courses and participate in work-based learning experiences to help them become future ready.
These academies are either graduating from NAF’s rigorous Year of Planning (YOP) or Fast Track programs. NAF’s admission programs offer direct support to high schools for the development of a NAF academy. An academy design team leads the development of a career-themed academy aligned with NAF’s educational design elements: Academy Development & Structure, Curriculum & Instruction, Advisory Board, and Work-Based Learning. This team of stakeholders includes school and academy staff, school and district leaders, parents, students, and business and postsecondary education partners. Their primary function is to create an academy-design action plan to direct academy development and establish the culture and structure of the academy.
The 31 emerging academies represent a strengthening of NAF’s presence in areas such as Miami, FL and Washington, DC, and for the first time, NAF opened academies in Puerto Rico.
